Why do so many college students fear physics homework?

Being in college can be a wonderful and scary experience at the same time. On the one hand, this is a time when you discover the world and yourself better than you have ever done it before. On the other hand though, this is the beginning of a new life, one where responsibility starts to go beyond house choirs and it starts to become serious. Investing a lot of money in your college education means that you will also want to actually make something out of it and it also means that you will start looking at life differently.

Physics is not the easiest subject out there and although you may dread it, the truth is that taking such a class in college can help you further on if you want to pursue a career in a technical field. Even as an IT engineer, you may still need at least some basic physics knowledge and you may not be able to get through without it.

Most of the students out there fear physics homework and not just for one reason. If you want to find out why you and your friends all fear this subject (and most importantly, how to fight this fear), then you should definitely read on.

  1. Physics is confusing, even when it talks about basic life principles such as gravitation. The key to fighting this confusion is paying attention in class. College professors may seem to be confusing you even more, but if you manage to lay the basic principles in your head, you will start to understand your teachers better. Even more, you may actually start to find what they say to be interesting.
  2. Physics teachers can be intimidating. Most likely, your college physics professor is quite intimidating in the way he/she knows so many things (and often things that are not even related to the subject they teach). However, if you want to get past this intimidation, you should think of the fact that, at the end of the day, your teacher is a human being who goes home, eats something and probably watches a movie or reads a book. Even more, you should think of the fact that your physics professor used to be a confused student, just like you.
  3. Many of the students out there believe that doing physics homework will take a lot of their time. Still, if you do pay attention in class and if you do read your notes before you start doing the homework there is a very high chance you will find it much easier to complete.
